Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Kimock and Banyan

I've never heard Kimock outside of what he has done with The Dead. This show is coming to Eugene this weekend. Looks like it would be a good one. Has anyone one seen this lineup?

"Steve Kimock w/ Banyan featuring Stephen Perkins, Rob Wasserman and Willie Waldman

After a smattering of shows during 2006 that featured appearances at the Jammy's, 10K Lakes Music Festival as well as club dates in Denver and San Francisco, this improvisational super group continues its ever expanding journey this March with a run of shows through Sonoma County, CA, Arcata, CA and Eugene, OR.

Add Steve Kimock's imaginative, yet searing guitar inspirations to California-based Banyan's tribal, punk influenced, acid jazz and you get a hotbed of eclectic tunes and raw energy. The core of Banyan features Stephen Perkins (Jane's Addiction & Porno For Pyros, most recently Panic Channel) on drums and Willie Waldman (Memphis Horns & Snoop Dog) on Trumpet. The rest of the roster is a rotating cast of amazing guest musicians that in this incarnation will feature Kimock and bassman extraordinaire, Rob Wasserman, who has most recently been playing and composing with Lou Reed.

Boards, blogs and music trading web-sites are a blaze with praise for this unique collaboration that promises new material every night and keeps fans hoping the show will never end."

Dire, how are doing friend? Sorry, this is off topic other than love any new Kimock suggestions. Hope all is well in Red Soxville. Just missed you on the chat, I'll be there for awhile. Much fun this weekend, even with Friday's "issues"
